How We Got Here
Our Story

Ethan brings 25 years of tree and storm-response work. His partner Mike D has worked in construction since 1988, including new homes, renovations, commercial work, consulting, and project management. A former firefighter, paramedic, police officer, and police chief, Mike brings the same calm responsibility to projects that he learned in public service. Mike is also the founder of Black Cloud Wood & Steel LLC — a Metro East construction, consulting, estimating, and project-management company built on the same standard.
The joint venture grew from years of referring work and solving connected problems. Tree damage may lead to roofing, structural work, utility coordination, cleanup, or a larger construction decision. CQI First gives the owner a clearer path through what comes next.
